The Material of Life was established and is dedicated to the proposition that ALL adults should have opportunity to be productively employed in society and NOT dependent on some government subsidy. Although there are facilities (sheltered workshops) that allow employment, these seem to provide positions that are of SUB-minimum wage (yes legal.. even in this day and age... see HERE). Our solution to this is to establish a safe, well mentored, manufacturing environment. It will create high value consumer products. intelligently use technology, and a implement a community 'timeshare' method of production. With this approach, a self-sustaining manufacturing  buissness giving employment opportunity to special needs individuals is viable,  in fact needed and necessary.
